Peloponnesian War: Lysander's Spartan Armies defeated the Athenians and the war ends. (25. April 404. BC)

The house of Zhao defeats the house of Zhi, ending the Battle of Jinyang, a military conflict between the elite families of the State of Jin during the Spring and Autumn period of China. (8. May 453. BC)

Emperor Honorius signs an edict providing tax relief for the Italian provinces Tuscia, Campania, Picenum, Samnium, Apulia, Lucania and Calabria, who are plundered by the Visigoths. (8. May 413)

A newly constructed temple in honour of the god Mercury was dedicated in ancient Rome on the Circus Maximus, between the Aventine and Palatine hills. To spite the senate and the consuls, the people awarded the dedication to a senior military officer, Marcus Laetorius (15. May 495. BC)

Empress Ariadne marries Anastasius I. The widowed Augusta is able to choose her successor for the Byzantine throne, after Zeno (late emperor) dies of dysentery. (20. May 491)

Battle of Avarayr between Armenian rebels and the Sassanid Empire takes place. The Empire defeats the Armenians militarily but guarantees them freedom to openly practice Christianity. (26. May 451)

Emperor Petronius Maximus is stoned to death by an angry mob while fleeing Rome. (31. May 455)

Sack of Rome: Vandals enter Rome, and plunder the city for two weeks (2. June 455)

Emperor Theodosius II married Aelia Eudocia. The wedding was celebrated at Constantinople (Byzantine Empire). (7. June 421)

The Athenian coup succeeds, forming a short-lived oligarchy. (9. June 411. BC)

Battle of Chalons: Flavius Aetius' battles Attila the Hun. After the battle, which was inconclusive, Attila retreats, causing the Romans to interpret it as a victory. (20. June 451)

Julius Nepos forces Roman usurper Glycerius to abdicate the throne and proclaims himself Emperor of the Western Roman Empire. (24. June 474)

Emperor Valentinian III, begins his reign over the Western Roman Empire. His mother Galla Placidia ends her regency, but continues to exercise political influence at the court in Rome. (2. July 437)

Emperor Theodosius II, age 13, yields power to his older sister Aelia Pulcheria, who reigned as regent and proclaimed herself empress (Augusta) of the Eastern Roman Empire. (4. July 414)

The Roman military commander Avitus is proclaimed Emperor of the Western Roman Empire. (9. July 455)

Odoacer makes a night assault with his Heruli guardsmen, engaging Theoderic the Great in Ad Pinetam. Both sides suffer heavy losses, but in the end Theodoric forces Odoacer back into Ravenna. (9. July 491)

After being besieged in Rome by his own generals, Western Roman Emperor Anthemius is captured in the St. Peter's Basilica and put to death. (11. July 472)
