President Woodrow Wilson signs an act of the U.S. Congress establishing most of the Grand Canyon as a United States National Park - the Grand Canyon National Park. (26. February 1919)

The dirigible Wingfoot Air Express crashes into the Illinois Trust and Savings Building in Chicago, Illinois, killing 12 people. (21. July 1919)

Admiral Ludwig von Reuter scuttles the German fleet in Scapa Flow, Orkney. The nine sailors killed are the last casualties of World War I. (21. June 1919)

The establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. (13. April 1919)

Women's rights: The U.S. Congress approves the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees suffrage to women, and sends it to the U.S. states for ratification. (4. June 1919)

Austria and the Allies sign the Treaty of Saint-Germain recognizing the independence of Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. (10. September 1919)

The Winnipeg General Strike begins. By 11:00 am, almost the whole working population of Winnipeg, Manitoba had walked off the job. (15. May 1919)

RCA is incorporated as the Radio Corporation of America. (17. October 1919)

German socialist Kurt Eisner is assassinated. His death results in the establishment of the Bavarian Soviet Republic and parliament and government fleeing Munich, Germany. (21. February 1919)

John Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown depart from St. John's, Newfoundland on the first nonstop transatlantic flight. (14. June 1919)

The steel strike of 1919, led by the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers, begins in Pennsylvania before spreading across the United States. (22. September 1919)

Anarchists simultaneously set off bombs in eight separate U.S. cities. (2. June 1919)

The first Palmer Raid is conducted on the second anniversary of the Russian Revolution. Over 10,000 suspected communists and anarchists are arrested in twenty-three different U.S. cities. (7. November 1919)

Fritz Pollard becomes the first African-American to play professional football for a major team, the Akron Pros. (18. September 1919)

Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and D.W. Griffith launch United Artists. (5. February 1919)

The American Legion is incorporated. (16. September 1919)

The first Communist International meets in Moscow. (2. March 1919)
