A new Instrument of Government is promulgated making Sweden a parliamentary monarchy. (6. June 1974)

After 84 days in space, the crew of Skylab 4, the last crew to visit American space station Skylab, returns to Earth. (8. February 1974)

M62 coach bombing: The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) explodes a bomb on a bus carrying off-duty British Armed Forces personnel in Yorkshire, England. Nine soldiers and three civilians are killed. (4. February 1974)

78 die when the Time Go-Go Club in Seoul, South Korea burns down. Six of the victims jumped to their deaths from the seventh floor after a club official barred the doors after the fire started. (2. November 1974)

Charles de Gaulle Airport opens in Paris, France. (8. March 1974)
